About Lyra

Lyra was our first child, and she was stillborn due to a complete placental abruption when I was 7 months pregnant. The abruption happened for no reason that we could find, which is rare.

There is a constellation that is named Lyra, and a quirky, smart, fiery little girl with the same name in the "His Dark Materials" trilogy written by Philip Pullman. And it is a unique, and lovely name...and we love it.

Lyra is buried in the cemetery outside of the church that L and I were married in. We aren't always able to be close to her grave, so we have two stuffed tigers that stay there, holding our love and showing that she is thought of and cared for.
