Mother's Day

(Let's see how many posts I can do in one day...?)

Local headline I just saw: Moms are free at "______ County Zoo - they get free admission on Mother's Day, May 9, 2010, when they're accompanied by a paying child.

*grumble grumble* Once again, that feeling of being left behind.

As a fellow babylost mom put it, "It’s a day that everyone around me gets flowers and brunch and a day off from household chores because they have living, breathing children."
~~~
In the wee hours of Sunday morning, I'm boarding a train to Chicago. I won't have to see any commercials about Mother's Day. I get to avoid all the hype in the mall, or in church. I'll just be hoping not to cry too much.
And for a good week, I won't be updating this blog. I will be doing art though, and will update upon my return.
  1. I thought about you today as I was out for lunch and the cashier wished me a Happy Mother's Day. I don't have children and while her assumption is just an annoyance for me, I thought of you and so many other friends who for very personal reasons, find this "holiday" to hold a lot of suffering. I wish our society was more sensitive to that on these commemorative days.
    I'm glad you have plans and hope for good things for you this coming week.
  8. I found you through Kristin at Once A Mother...I lost my firstborn to placenta abruption at 33 weeks. I am so sorry for your loss.
    I am so sorry you do not have your daughter with you to celebrate mother's day with you. Even though the outside doesn't see it, you deserve to celebrate mother's day too, you did birth a child after all.
    I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.
