Tattoo

Being the social networking maniac that I am, some of you have already seen this. But I'm still trying to keep this space updated. It's a good way to look back and see where I've been. I think I'm comfortable with that being it's main purpose now.

I've been wanting another tattoo for some time now. I love Lyra's footprints, and I wanted this one to be in color, and to be a symbol of my journey since then, and in it's continuation. From what I understand in my research of them, m.andalas are symbolic of protection, luck, completion, a higher reality having been reached...they have a variety of backgrounds and understandings. I don't give the backgrounds and religious meanings enough credit here, and may make a few of your cringe. But I found myself drawn to the idea of completion. While I may never be complete...never full finished is growing and learning...I still strive to be creative, sincere, and moving forward. I feel like this shows growth since Lyra died, and continued growth as I make goals and go after dreams. Does that make any since, or does is just skew the whole purpose of what the m.andala was created for?

I do love the colors, the detail work, and the placement. I feel strong and bold and confidant. Those aren't always dominant feelings that I have about myself.

Wishing you all a good week. Much love.

Random: Weather

We never get a gradual spring warming here in Kansas. We get hot one day, then it drops 30 degrees the next day, just to bounce right back up to higher temps again. Despite the sporadic warming, it is beautiful and we are enjoying the time to be outside for walks and grilling. What I'm most excited about is the chance for my Lyra tattoo to be visible again, and not hidden beneath socks and shoes. I can wear my flip flops again or other sandals and have her sweet little feet visible.

Random

As requested in the comments, I'm posting a picture of the tattoos we got after Lyra died. We got them January 2nd...2 weeks after she left us. These are her footprints from the hospital stamp they did, but we did have to size them down a little bit, so they'd fit our feet better. (This picture is right after it was done, so the area is still a little swollen and red)
