Yesterday was 11 months. My mom came through town and it was a good way to spend the day.
Last evening was also the reading and book signing of David Sedaris. When I bought the tickets, I knew it fell on the 11 month time marker, but thought it was fitting to go anyway. I'd never read anything of his before last December, and a friend sent me one of his books. It made me smile, even if just for a moment, during those first weeks after Lyra died. I've read many of his books since then, and thought it'd be a nice way to finish out another month gone by with some deep belly laughs from his reading, facial expressions, diary snippets, and jokes.
Below is my signed page. I had my water bottle with me, and it was his conversation starter with me. It's nice he takes the time to write something more than just his signature. Plus, I like random, so it works well :)
I'm glad that you found some smiles yesterday. I found some too.
ReplyDeleteOh, David Sedaris. Love him. Glad he could make you smile :)
ReplyDeleteNice! A colleague of mine gave me a couple of his books to read after Acacia died when I asked her for something funny. He brought some smiles to my face too. Thinking of you as another month milestone is marked.

ReplyDeleteI love David Sedaris. I'm glad that 11 months passed peacefully for you.
ReplyDeleteI have got to borrow one of his books from you, I've been wanting to read him for awhile now & can definitely use laughs! I had no idea he was going to be in the area! Thankful the 11mth mark was gentle for you.
ReplyDeleteA good belly laugh is always so therapeutic. And I'll be thinking of you especially in the coming month.
ReplyDeleteDavid Sedaris - a man that can make anyone feel "normal" in comparison...love to you.
ReplyDeleteCynthia said it so well. I hope that enjoyment stays with you.
