Three Years

Missing her lots.
This might be a repeat image, but it's fitting for this year. L came up with the concept, and I drew it up.

Constellations

I've been contemplating how to map out the major constellations for Simon....and me. I came up with this, and liked the turnout. I just did some watercolors, with silver pen for the stars. They are all hanging at the end of our hallway, and I love them.

(Please overlook the bad quality of the photos. I do not put much effort into taking great photos of my work or creations...something I should probably remedy.)

Projects: Watercolors

The next project I've worked on was for a variety of things...two for friends, one for myself, and two for the Auction for Mikayla's Grace and Forever in Our Hearts Remembrance Day that is being held through the 25th. I did these all after Simon is put to bed. I'm finding the evening hours are the best time to work on artsy projects...

7.18.11

I'll share some of the artsy things I've done recently:
Pen/Watercolor wedding shower gift

As requested, photos of the flip flops I refashioned.

L's father's day present. I repainted the frames and then hung items that were important for that day. I like that we can exchange out any of the pictures or notes, for things Simon will do in the future, or for remembering Lyra or really anything. The top left frame has Simon's footprints in a "heart" shape. The bottom right is one of Lyra's sonogram pics (bad glare in this pic).

I have a few other things I've done, but they are gifts, and the recipients have not yet received them. So those I'll show later on.

6.2.11

Two random projects I've done recently: repurposing flip flops from this tutorial, and a watercolor doodle.
----

L told me last night that he had seen two redheaded children in a local restaurant lately...one girl and one boy. She was older than her brother, and it made L think about Lyra and Simon.

----

It was Memorial Day weekend here in the U.S. this past weekend, and we got together with L's family. All the cousin's were together. Sort of. I didn't have to say it out loud, or make a big point of it. I suppose that could be an added segment for myself in the "Where I'm At" project. That exact weekend last year I wondered if I was pregnant with my rainbow baby. This year I was unbelievably blessed to have Simon here with us...meeting his other cousins and getting used to the all commotion that he'll soon be adding to.

----

Four months old. My little baby boy is four months old already... and not so little. He's almost 17lbs, and 28in long. He grew an inch in two weeks time from our last trip to the dr. for a cold!!

He doesn't sit up without help yet, and he still hates tummy time. But he's discovered his hands and starting to notice his feet more. He reaches for things and grasps them better, and giggles the sweetest giggles. His hair is staying red at the moment, and his eyes are still blue. Oh, and he hates his car seat more than anything in the world. He used to get in the car and fall asleep, but now he wails for a bit before nodding off from exhaustion...I always feel bad, but living in the middle of nowhere, we have to drive to reach a bigger grocery store and such.

We're all learning together, and enjoying the process for the meantime :)

Sketchbook Project & AEDM

Here are the last 3 spreads for my sketchbook project. Like I've said before, I'm not sure the flow and unity of the entire thing is the best, but I feel good about completing this project. I've scanned all the images, and will probably post a link with them all gathered together when I get time :)

And as today is officially Nov. 1, here is the sketchbook I made for Art Every Day Month (AEDM). I used the moleksine paper from the sketchbook took out for the rebinding for the Sketchbook Project, a file folder for the covers, and collaged magazine pieces for the design.

The words in the light might be hard to read. They are:
I can do this
love
awareness
hope
I miss you
healing
I love you

I saw something similar in a different medium, and I'm testing a small version to see if I want to do a large version. I'm not a fan of this one though.
